Many campuses have found it very effective to build, and burn, a mockup of a student room. Others are reluctant to do it because they perceive it as being too daunting a task, which, These mockups can be built very easily and inexpensively. However, as with any exercise involving live fire, it is critically important to look at all of the safety aspects and involve the fire department throughout the exercise. It may also be necessary to get permits from the local or state jurisdiction before conducting the burn.
